A powerful storm system has ripped across much of the eastern United States this week. The southeastern states were hardest hit, with 46 confirmed tornado touchdowns from Texas to North Carolina as of Tuesday morning. Tragically, 33 people lost their lives due to the severe weather including 11 in Mississippi alone. Hundreds of homes and business were destroyed across the region. In addition, over 1.2 million customers were without power at the height of the outbreak.
Fortunately, the hardest hit areas are not expected to experience any more severe weather this week. But a few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible near the Florida-Georgia border through Wednesday.
