Near-Record Flooding in Southern U.S.
The States situated along the Gulf of Mexico host some of the rainiest areas in the United States. But even by their standards, the amount of rainfall recently has been excessive, with some parts of Mississippi and Tennessee having received over 400% of normal rainfall for February. In Jackson, MS, the Pearl River reached 36.8 feet on Monday, which was its third highest crest in recorded history. The waters have flooded thousands of homes in the area.

Unfortunately for the waterlogged region, more rain is expected early next week thanks to a slow-moving low pressure system.
