Spring-like Warmth Visits Eastern U.S.

The calendar may read January, but a taste of spring visited much of the eastern United States last weekend. Boston’s Logan Airport recorded a high of 74F last Sunday, which broke the all-time warmest temperature for the month of January of 70F set back in 1950. Meanwhile, Providence, Rhode Island topped out at 70F on Sunday, which broke the January record of 69F set in 2002. It was even warmer in Charleston, West Virginia, where the mercury reached 80F. Though that temperature easily broke the daily record of 71F from 2018, it was still 1F short of the all-time January high temperature.
