Hurricane Dorian Devastates Northern Bahamas
Due to their location, the islands of the Bahamas are no stranger to hurricanes, including major ones. But, especially for the northern Bahamas, Hurricane Dorian is now in a class of its own. Dorian not only achieved maximum sustained winds of 185 mph – the highest on record for a North Atlantic Basin – it stalled over the northern Bahamas for two whole days.

In the Bahamas, 45 people lost their lives due to the storm. Homes and buildings on islands such as Grand Bahama were completely leveled, leaving about 70,000 people homeless in total. Some have even compared the damage to that seen in war zones.
