Storm to Bring Blizzard, Severe Weather to Central U.S.
While tranquil weather is expected across much of the eastern United States for the next few days, a large storm is expected to bring multiple types of inclement weather to much of the central U.S at the same time. On the cold side of the system, heavy snow and very strong winds are in the forecast. As such, the National Weather Service has issued Blizzard Warnings for portions of Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Up to 20 inches of snow is expected in some places along with wind gusts that may reach hurricane force.

The threat of severe weather will exist on the warm side of the system. The Storm Prediction Center has put portions of southwestern Texas and southeastern New Mexico under an Enhanced Risk of severe thunderstorms for Tuesday. According to the SPC, the greatest threats with these storms will be damaging winds, a few tornadoes, and isolated strong hail. The threat of severe weather is then expected to move eastward towards the Mississippi River Valley over the next two days.
