Early Season Cold and Snow to Blast North-Central U.S.
Though the calendar still reads autumn, winter conditions will arrive in parts of the North Central United States later this week. Temperatures will range from 10 to 40 degrees below normal late this week and this weekend and daily record low temperatures may be broken in some cities across the region. Frost and freezes will be possible as far south as northern Texas and Oklahoma.

Along with the cold air will come a powerful low pressure system. This system is expected to bring heavy snow to portions of the Rocky Mountains as well as to parts of Nebraska, the Dakotas, and Minnesota. Over a foot of snow will be possible where the heaviest snow bands set up with this storm.
