Record Warm May 2018 for Midwest, Northeast U.S.A.
After below normal temperatures dominated much of the eastern United States during March and April, the weather took a summer-like turn in many of those same regions during the month of May. Many locations recorded their warmest Mays on record. The State of Illinois recorded its warmest statewide May on record. In fact, all 31 days of the month were warmer than normal in the cities of Quincy, Springfield, Champaign, and Carbondale. Columbus, Ohio also posted its warmest May on record.

Numerous other locations had one of their 10 warmest Mays on record in 2018. New York City posted its 6th warmest May on record, while Hartford, Connecticut recorded its 4th warmest May since records have been kept. Syracuse, New York had its 7th warmest May, while Providence, Rhode Island posted its 3rd warmest May on record.
