Snowy Start to February in the Upper Mid West
February has gotten off to a snowy start across parts of the Upper Midwest region of the United States. In fact, Chicago’s O’Hare Airport has recorded measureable snow each of the past five days. However, the snowiest region in the Midwest relative to normal so far in February has been southern Lower Michigan. Detroit Wayne County Metro Airport has recorded 9.5 inches of snow through the first seven days of February compared to an average of 2.5 inches in that span. As of this writing, Detroit is under a Winter Storm Watch for another heavy snow event on Friday.
